Emmiwuks is an avid tourist who has tried many local trips with his bicycle. A few months ago, he embarked on a no-turning-back trip, known as an extraordinary journey, pedalling from Lagos’ vibrant streets to America’s distant shores on a bicycle. While some kinfolk questioned his resolve, others dismissed it as a jest, and a few feared for his sanity and boldly concluded he was in a state of being outside of what is considered normal. Yet, Emmiwuks remained steadfast, driven by a profound purpose: to uplift those wallowing in IDP camps and abject poverty.
Emmiwuks, as popularly known, is called EMMANUEL AÔNDOUNGWA MYAM. He hails from Mbasaar, Ityuluv ward, in Ukum LGA, Benue State, Nigeria. He was born on 16th June, 2000, to the lovely family of Mr & Mrs Myam Orhena Solomon.
As he cycles across borders, his journey has transcended scepticism, inspiring hope in the hearts of many, leaving those who had doubted him initially in awe. Having traversed Benin Republic, Togo, and Ghana, Emmiwuks’ tales of warm receptions and breathtaking landscapes have captivated audiences. He has crossed 3 countries so far. Currently, in Abidjan’s warm embrace, he has been royally received by the Queen Mother of ECOWAS, Her Royal Majesty Nana Kyeremaa Abrafi-Koto. God bless her Royal Majesty! Notably, Emmiwuks’ journey has been supported by generous individuals who have contributed financially and otherwise, fuelling his mission and passion to uplift the disadvantaged. Their kindness has been instrumental in propelling this remarkable endeavour. Friends and family, particularly the Tiv community of Ayatutu heritage, have been a source of strength and encouragement and support to him.
This remarkable journey, once perceived as a whimsical dream, has evolved into a balefire of hope for those in need, an attestation to the power of determination and compassion. As Emmiwuks pedals forward, his spirit remains unbroken, fuelled by the promise of a brighter future.
