Angela Jimoh is a representation of excellent leadership, and her creative abilities have advanced her career and the corporate environment in Africa.
She was recently appointed by the technology giant, IBM Corporation, as its Regional Head for North, East, and West Africa, and this has made Africa proud because she is the first female to be appointed to that enviable position in Africa as Regional Head of IBM.
FIRST FEMALE HEAD OF IBM
The founder and CEO of Brainwave Tech Africa, a technology company specializing in cutting-edge solutions for the African continent, is Ghanaian businesswoman Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh. She is currently the Regional Head of IBM in Africa, having previously been the Strategic Partnership Lead for Africa at Microsoft.
Education
An alumna of Harvard Business School and London Guildhall College, Kyerematen-Jimoh holds a BA in Marketing and French. She is also an old student of Wesley Girls’ High School and Achimota School in Ghana. Angela is a proud mother.
Professional Career
The amazing professional has 20 years of extensive working experience in the financial services and technology industries in Africa and Europe. In 2011, she joined IBM as the Territory Marketing Manager responsible for IBM West Africa. She later moved to Nairobi, Kenya, serving as strategy leader for IBM’s Central, East, and West Africa operations.
Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh also served as a member of the governing board of the Bank of Ghana from 2021 to 2025, chaired by Dr. Ernest Addison. The board is responsible for the formulation of policies for the achievement of the central banks’ objectives.
Before joining IBM, she worked in the UK for UBS Investment Bank and ABN AMRO Bank. In January 2022, Microsoft announced the appointment of Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh, an international corporate law expert, as the new Africa Strategic Partnerships Manager in its new Africa Transformation Office (ATO). The office focuses on facilitating growth and investment in four key development areas: digital infrastructure, skills development, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and startups.

Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh was recently appointed as the regional head for North, East, and West Africa. She was IBM’s first female country head and becomes the first woman and first African to be appointed regional head in Africa.
She will be responsible for IBM operations in over 40 countries in Africa, including Morocco, Nigeria, Kenya, Senegal, Uganda, Ghana, and Tunisia.
Prior to her new appointment, she was Chief of Staff to the Senior Vice President in charge of Global Markets and Sales in IBM’s corporate headquarters in New York.
Awards
She is a recipient of numerous awards, including the Global Impact Leadership Award from the US African Women Forum and the Corporate Personality of the Year from Glitz Africa.
