Chief Dennis Ekpe Ogbu, PhD, led a delegation of Ufia people at the House of Representatives North Central Committee for the public hearing “Centre B” on the review of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) in Lafia, the state capital of Nasarawa State.
Chief Dennis Ekpe Ogbu presented a memo for the establishment of the Ufia Local Government Area. “Ado Government is one of the 9 local government areas in Benue Zone C, South Senatorial District, and it was the earliest local government area created in 1987, and the government has gone ahead to create an additional 5 local governments, which Ado has remained untouched since 1987.”
To convey the message of the good people of Ufia to the world, the delegation leader, Chief Ogbu, was so focused on his 3 minutes allotted to his presentation that he was able to raise all concerns. His voice reverberated loudly as he told the chairman about the vast resources deposited in Ufia land and the industrious people of Ufia. The formation of the Ufia local government, he claimed, would address the region’s numerous problems, such as underdevelopment and insecurity. He reiterated categorically that the government has not heeded the numerous pleas of the good people of Ado.
Following that, the memo containing all of the numerous areas of concern was handed over to the chairman of the House of Representatives North Central public hearing on the 1999 (as amended) Federal Republic of Nigeria constitution review in Lafia on July 12, 2025.
