One well-known retired military general is Lawrence ONOJA ANEBI. During his tenure as Plateau State’s military governor from 1986 to 1988, he earned his esteem. General Onoja quickly established an unequalled record; numerous projects were completed and put into service, and they continue to be a source of pride for the state to this day. Before returning to military headquarters, H also served as Katsina State’s military governor under Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida. General Onoja was a military leader with a sharp mind. He is an Idoma by tribe and elder statesman with numerous traditional titles; he heals from Odele Idekpa in Benue State’s Ohimini local government area.

On August 10, 1948, Pa William and Mama Etta Onoja welcomed General Onoja, as he is affectionately known, into the world. His parents were devout Catholics who raised him in the Lord’s way.
In Ohimini local government, young Onoja attended St. Joseph Primary School in Odelle Idekpa. He then continued his secondary education at St. Francis Secondary School in Otukpo before attending St. Augustine’s Teachers’ College in Lafia.

From 1962 to 1968, the distinguished Idoma general started his military career at the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna.

State Agricultural Development Authority of Katsina. The development of an outdoor theatre along Jibia Road, an Olympic-sized stadium along Mani Road, the Katsina State Secretariat Complex, the Ahmedu Coomasie staff housing scheme, Farmers Supply Company, and other projects.

General Onoja retired and entered democratic politics after serving his government well as a military commander. He ran for both gubernatorial and senate positions unsuccessfully.

General Onoja received numerous honours throughout his career and as a member of the community, and numerous titles were bestowed upon him. He is highly regarded, even by his own people. A few of his honours and recognitions include:
